    R.C. Sproul can make such a statement because his classical apologetics is taking him into the philosophical no mans land where nothing is assumed. If we cannot know anything for certain then we cannot know that we have eternal life and that this life is in His Son. We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we have the epistemological basis for all knowledge of God in scripture.
